HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK!!
After what I hope was a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break, we are now settling into a new school term, eager to learn about new topics and concepts. Amongst our subjects for the Spring are the mysterious Maya of Central America, the Space Race between the U.S.A and U.S.S.R, and the varied geography and climate of the Americas.
Much of our reading and grammar work will link to our whole class novel 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibottson, an intriguing and atmospheric adventure story set in the Amazon Rain forest.
If you want to find out more about our topics and themes for this term, then please click on the link above labelled 'Spring Term Topics'.
I look forward to working with you all this term.
WELCOME TO YEAR 5
Well, the Summer holidays are over and we move forward into another exciting academic year in Year 5. Allow me to extend a warm welcome to our pupils and their families. I am looking forward to meeting you all over the coming weeks and working together closely to enable your children to reach their full potential and enjoy a fun and stimulating year.
My name is Mr Keane and I will be supported in Year 5 by Mrs Horne and Mrs Goodwin.
This term our topic is Stone Age to the Iron Age.
Homework is set weekly on Fridays. It is due back by the following Wednesday.
Children are also expected to read for 15 minutes and practise times tables for 15 minutes every evening.
Our P.E sessions are Tuesday and Friday afternoons. On Friday afternoons we go swimming at Holmfirth Pool. Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school for each session.
Please check back from time to time to find updates and information that will be useful to both pupils and parents.
Maths Meet=This man has done lots of fraction and decimal little teaching sessions. These videos may help parents revise their knowledge if it is a long time since they have studied fractions and decimals and want to help you with your learning about fractions and decimals.
